In 1988, Matthew White commenced his career in journalism at The Manly Daily Newspaper writing for Sport, News and Entertainment. Seeking new challenges, Matthew moved into radio joining Newcastle's NEWFM where he produced wrote and read breakfast news. In 1992, Matthew joined NBN Television (Newcastle) as the weekend sports presenter and journalist. Returning to Sydney, Matthew turned his talents once again to radio, by joining radio station Triple M as weekend sports reader and reporter. During this time Matthew also commenced work with Network Ten as a freelance sports reporter. In 1993, Matthew joined Sports Tonight as a regular contributor to the show and continues his role as a reporter. Matthew is the weekend host of Sports Tonight. |

A highlight of Matthew's career was his role as daytime host at the 1994 Commonwealth Games from Canada. Another highlight was securing an interview with Basketball legend, Michael Jordan. In 1994 and 1995 Matthew hosted the summer of Sport format and Pepsi Cup Baseball Series. In 1995, Matthew hosted a new sports quiz show for Network Ten, titled A Question of Sport. The show tested the sporting knowledge of celebrities such as Merv Hughes and Jane Fleming. 1996 and 1998 saw Matthew report on the Uncle Tobys Ironman Series and host the Devondale Ironwoman Series. Also, in Ten's first year televising Indy car, Matthew joined the reporting team in the pits for live crosses. In 1999, Matthew hosted ONE SUMMER and the Extreme Games. In 2002, Matthew joined Network TEN'S V8 Supercar Commentary Team and in 2003, he was a part of TEN's inaugural Formula One Team.
