Peter Helliar
Rove Live ::: 10     Before the Game ::: 10

If comedy didnŐt exist Peter Helliar would be in a lot of trouble. Pete was born to be a comedian, he has no choice. Pete spent many of his younger years involved in amateur theatre and community radio before he decided to try his hand as a stand up in 1996. It was a fait accompli that Pete would become one of the most talked about new comics. In 1999 he joined Rove McManus on rove on the Nine Network and followed him to rove[live] on Ten, where he has stayed. He continues to work as a stand-up selling out at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and can be heard on Austereo nationally on Saturday Morning Rove.

Wonderful a bizarre revelation - The Age.

Peter Helliar will be known by many as a member of the Rove [Live] team on Channel Ten or as one of the guys on skitHOUSE also on Ten, or as part of the gang on Saturday Morning Rove on the Austereo network; or perhaps as the host of AFL chat show Before the Game, broadcast on, you guessed it, the Ten Network. Others will know him as a slick and high paced stand up with a penchant for pop culture, especially those who have witnessed his sensational hit Melbourne Comedy Festival shows [This Much Is True, Shame, Kokomo Or Bust, Shame: The College Years, Autumn Catalogue, Thinking Out Loud and Lovely Jubbly]. If you're wondering if Peter has ever had a song in the Triple J Hottest 100, then the answer is yes. "Bevan The Musical" was voted the 35th most popular song of 1999 by Triple J listeners.

Pete's personal highlights include hosting the 2002 AFL Grand Final breakfast, driving in the 2003 Celebrity Grand Prix, playing charades with Cameron Diaz and interviewing the Olsen twins. Even he admits it's all downhill from here.
